Utilities are attractive targets for cyber-attack, and grid modernization continues to open doors for this to happen. Chris helps utilities maintain their operations and protect their reputations by making sure threats to operational technology remain just that—potential rather than real occurrences. For example, he routinely orchestrates exercises on live systems—with as many as 75 participants across all utility functions validating 500+ pieces of critical functionality.
His broad industry background also includes grid modernization planning and analysis, business case development, major process reengineering, cost-reduction initiatives and development of new regulatory and business strategies. He brings a high level of organization and discipline, but also a great sense of humor—a combination that enables him to collaborate well with people at all levels.
Prior to joining West Monroe, he led large-scale smart grid strategy and deployment projects as a principal with KEMA Consulting. He began his career in the United States Navy and achieved the rank of Lieutenant Commander. He holds a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the United States Naval Academy and an MBA degree from Northwestern University.
What makes Christopher different
He is a certified single-engine and multi-engine helicopter pilot who has flown helicopters off aircraft carriers. He is the fourth generation in his family to graduate from the Naval Academy, dating back to his great-grandfather in 1883.
He likes to travel with family—including three children—and friends. He has been to 47 of the 50 states (with Alaska, Arkansas, and Vermont left to go) and five of the seven continents. He also enjoys running, biking, and attending Navy and Northwestern football games.
Where Christopher makes an impact
Passionate about developing the next generation of leaders, he likes to give team members the chance to develop and lead critical projects with as little oversight as needed.
He is extensively involved with the Boler-Parseghian Center for Rare and Neglected Diseases, and particularly its study of von-Hippel Lindau (VHL). He presents at annual meetings and interacts with scientists and labs working on the VHL study. He also volunteers at his children’s schools.
