Courtney loves leading teams that deliver working products to customers in the market—and her passion shows in the results. Her contributions to a new custom dispute inspection platform helped a leading neobank save more than $8 million within the first few months of release. She has also worked with the founders of several other organizations to turn big ideas into the first releases of their digital products.

Her expertise spans writing code to developing strategies for new and existing products to helping clients improve their ability to release working software more efficiently and reliably.

She spent more than 15 years with Carbon Five, where she was a partner and technical lead. She founded the firm’s New York City office and grew the Product Management practice. She holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Chicago.

What makes Courtney different

Courtney has been an avid rock climber for more than 20 years. At one point, she was a sponsored climber and took two years off to climb full time in Europe, South Africa, and the United States. She also loves backcountry skiing—especially right out of her back door in the Sierra Nevada.

Where Courtney makes an impact

Courtney is active in many endeavors related to her two passions: the outdoors and technology. She is a proud member of the Golden Gate Board of NatureBridge, which connects young people to the wonder and science of the natural world, and a long-time supporter of RailsBridge, which teaches underrepresented people in tech to to code.

She serves on the programming committee for QCon and has been a speaker at several technology conferences, including QCon, GoTo, and the CTO Summit. She is also a member of the San Francisco CTO Club and a mentor to several Techstars companies and a board member/advisor to several early-stage companies.
