A problem solver and critical thinker at heart, Kim relishes the challenge of solving complex issues. By thinking through root causes, he equips clients to move forward with confidence—and with significantly greater efficiency. For example, when a healthcare provider was consolidating customer services, Kim helped the organization avoid millions of dollars in protracted labor negotiations and member dissatisfaction while accelerating the time to full operations and productivity.
He excels taking a strategic approach toward the people and organizational impacts of large-scale transformational events such as restructuring, merger and acquisitions, and global process and system changes. This approach has enabled him to successfully guide organizational change, execution of strategic plans, business process improvement, and digital and technology enablement.
His background includes experience in the technology, apparel and retail, brand and design, healthcare, utilities, nonprofit, and hospitality sectors.
He co-founded and was an owner of 71 & Change—now part of West Monroe—where he ran the Portland office. Previously, he built and oversaw the largest market for PeopleFirm LLC. He earned bachelor’s degrees in history and accounting from The University of Idaho.
What makes Kim different
When Kim isn’t working with clients, he enjoys sneaking out to the football (soccer) pitch on the weekend or skiing first tracks at sunrise. His competitiveness and focused determination outside of work has been fueled by racing mountain bikes across the west, training with the Olympic Development soccer program, and playing in the all-PNW Philharmonic Orchestra.
Where Kim makes an impact
As a minority business owner and leader, Kim understands first-hand the criticality and value of creating a diverse and inclusive environment. He is active in Inclusion and Diversity efforts—having supported board development efforts, working to support systemic change efforts, and taking leading roles with culture and team-building initiatives.
Outside of the office, he spends a fair amount of time putting his business acumen to work for the local nonprofit world. He has served on several boards and subcommittees, including the Peninsula School Board of Directors, United Way of Columbia Willamette, and Social Venture Partners.
