Michael understands what it takes to make complex enterprise transformations successful, drawing on his experience at the forefront of computational and systems technology to deliver undeniable results. For example, he rearchitected a major U.S. retailer’s environment to run on virtualized hardware, reducing operational expenses by 32 percent.

His meticulous attention to detail and rigorous analysis methodology equips him well to lead large IT outsourcing and infrastructure initiatives—whether managing outsourcing operations for a large investment banking firm or carving out of a division of a major aerospace corporation. He has extensive experience across the sourcing process, including contract negotiation and technical and financial bid preparation for contracts in excess of $150 million in value.

He joined West Monroe from Pace Harmon, where he was a senior associate and leader in the IT Infrastructure group. Previously, he spent 12 years managing global outsourcing engagements at Hewlett-Packard Enterprise Services—including the global delivery team implementing HP’s first managed services investment banking outsourcing customer, delivering a 17% cost reduction. He holds a degree in physics from Boston College, a master’s degree from Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and a Ph.D. from the University of Washington.

What makes H. Michael different

As director of the NOAA/PMEL Satellite Remote Sensing Laboratory, he designed and implemented advanced computing systems to process satellite data from multi-sensor platforms. He has also worked in advanced geophysical evaluation of climate model initialization, the satellite programs of NASA building the first oceanographic satellite systems, and for various contractors supporting strategic defense initiatives and Naval Air Systems command.

When not at work, he enjoys watching rugby matches and spending time with his children and grandchildren. He holds the rare distinction of being an Emerald Shellback, a sailor who has crossed the equator at the Prime Meridian.
